Our story doesn’t begin in 1986 — it begins much earlier, with two courageous children who arrived in the United States alone, filled with hope and guided by strength. Both Armando and Susana were part of Operation Peter Pan (1960–1962) — a historic mission that brought more than 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban minors to the U.S. in search of freedom and safety. Alone in a new country, they had no family, no possessions — only a will to build a better future.

Years later, they met, fell in love, and together pursued the ultimate American Dream: starting a family business rooted in honesty, hard work, and service.

In 1986, they launched what would become Hotel Items. Armando would personally load the family van with institutional-grade sheets, towels, and napery, driving from Miami to Key West, stopping at every small hotel and motel along the way to offer quality products and trusted service. Meanwhile, Susana handled sourcing and customer care — making sure each client felt like part of the family.What set them apart? In 1996, after graduating from college, their son Armando Jr. joined the business and helped bring it into the digital age — expanding its reach across the U.S. while keeping the founding values intact.

Today, Hotel Items by A&S proudly serves thousands of hotels, motels, and short-term rental properties nationwide. Still family-owned. Still based in Hialeah, Florida — just a short ride from Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
